[livejournal.com profile] justprompts | The McKenning Children
I have a fair amount of sisters. I'm the one boy of six children and I'm sort of in the middle but not really.

Anyway the oldest of the bunch is Adrianna and she turned into my mother. Honest to god. Shes married, she got married when she was nineteen? God it's hard to believe, shes still with the same guy of course. They've got four kids now, two a little older then Chloe two about to head into college. She wanted another one but they suggested against it. Two boys and Two girls and it was sort of funny because it honestly went boy girl boy girl. Shes a stay at home mom while her husband works over at National Semi Conductor, they produce microchips for electronics all over the world. He's got a good job there, they've got a great family but I always knew Arianna would be the home maker, she was always taking care of us when mom worked.

Kerri was the second born a year after Adrianna. Adrianna, Kerri, and I are a set of Irish twins born a year right after one another. Anyway I never got along with her when I was little. Growing up she got in with the red neck crowd, shes always been the tough "BMW" Big Maine Woman, and she ended up hanging around the sort of people who like to beat up queers just for the fun of it. I of course didn't tell her that until I was much, much older. She's sorry now and we actually get along great. Shes single and works with the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland as the head Veterinarian, she also works with a private vet practice if it wasn't for her we wouldn't have Maxi. I'm pretty sure she might be Chloes favorite aunt, considering she lives on a farm up in Hollis with sheep goats a couple of heads of cattle two horses and whatever cats or dogs shes brought home from the ARL.

Gretchen was born seven years later. We blame the fact that with all the kids at school my mother got bored and started sleeping with the mail man. That isn't actually what happened of course, but we still always joke that Gretchen's dad is the post man. Funny thing is she later came to marry a post man, but she didn't know he was one until they started dating. Shes got two kids of her own now, and she works over at buds, though they don't call it buds anymore, Hannaford bought it out I think, she still lives up in Newport, I don't really see Gretchen all that much and she doesn't call often, and every time I call she never picks up the phone and no computer makes her virtually dead to the world. She was the second one of the family to go to college because it went Me, Her and then finally Kerri, but sadly she didn't use it like me and Kerri do. I wish we did talk though her kids are about Chloes age.

Debbie, Debbie is the families "wild child" I think every family has them. She was the one always getting in trouble in school and such. She had a lot to live up to I suppose in all honesty. All my sisters did sports, and I was involved in every political extra curriculum activity I could sink my teeth into. But shes never really been like "The rest of the McKenning children". So I think a lot of what other people thought she should be pushed her into the person she actually became. She ended up dropping out moving to California becoming a lesbian deciding that wasn't for her. Which later elicited a huge fight between my and my family with the whole "Well if she can change then so can you." But that's another story. She's settled down now, shes dating this sort of sleeze ball, but she just had a baby a few days ago. She sent pictures shes beautiful. I'm hoping this baby sort of gets her life back on track.

Susanna, shes the last. She was born a year before my father passed away. She is like the baby too, we all did a lot to help in raising her, my mom went through a bit of a touch patch. She got most of the blunt of it too. She also though became the spoiled child. Mom felt bad because dad wasn't around so she tried to dampen the blow by giving Susanna just about anything she ever wanted. Not that we really care, by that time most of us were already moved out or moving out. She started her first year of college this year, doesn't know what she wants to be but we're all rooting for her either way. She said shes considering becoming a teacher I hope she does, two teachers in one family? That'd be pretty sweet, but I really just want her to do what makes her happy.

Well that's pretty much my whole family, well aside from my mom. The mother to us all. She's pretty much retired now, she lives with my sister Adrianna in the farm house we all grew up in. She spends most of her time farming or playing in the flower garden. She works part time as a secretary for a medical office still just too give her a break away from kids, but is pretty much enjoying her older years watching my nieces and nephews. I still get a little saddened that everyone but me lives back in Maine, but I love it here and I can't move back now. So I've just gotta stick with visiting every other month. Because even though we're all apart we're still one big old family.
